Chapter 20: No turning back
The pack sighed in disappointment as Jacquelyn couldnt enter the chute, it was too small for either one of their forms. Yuki looked around the area as she came across two elevators that were a little distant from the reception desk. She was glad to find out that the guard had fallen asleep. She looked back at the others that were down the hallway and waved her hands so as to catch their attention. The pack gathered again and looked at the elevator.
It only goes up
Ace whispered looking at the red button that was there. Maybe, they were transported somewhere else?
Likely, but thats not that case
Shauni said. You can literally feel theyre here
she said flexing her hand open for a moment.
both of the Protectors agreed.
There was a sharp ding and the teens moved back a bit. The doors slid open and another guard appeared wearing the same attire as the security guard that was at the front desk. He let out a small sigh as he walked past them and moved closer towards the front part of the room. The others quickly moved into the elevator. The guard from before thought nothing of them thinking they were merely going to visit Novak.
The wolves in disguise were inside the elevator and it was just as Ace has suspected. In front of them, within the right side of the elevator there was a pad with numbered buttons, but there was no signal that indicated the lower level floors. Jacquelyn sighed and looked down and Ace couldnt help but hit the wall of the elevator.
Well you could ride this piece of junk up and see what comes up, the guards might have something
Yuki titled her head hearing Pravus speak so lazily. The dark furred wolf was in it for himself she knew that much. But even so that did prove to be a useful idea. Ace looked down for a moment and breathed in. Shauni shrugged her shoulders for a moment and expressed that it wouldnt hurt to try and find something on the other floor.
Minutes passed and the teens made it to the second floor, they looked around cautiously and noticed that there were no guards in that area. Jacquelyn and Yuki moved along the tiled floors and noticed that there was no one in their rooms, the offices were locked. They tried another floor and there were several guards moving about but still they didnt take heed in at seeing the teens. It started to make them wonder if they knew anything about wolves at all.
a voice caught Aces attention.
Its not wise to have him there though, theyre all wolves after all
it was a females voice.
So now youre saying you dont trust him. The male said laughing slightly. You were all so sure that he wouldnt betray anyone.
the female paused.
The conversation was taking place behind a closed door. They were somewhere near the entrance considering Ace could hear the voices with ease. The rest of his group decided to look for a lone guard or at least something that could help them with the investigation that they needed to do for the rumored underground part. The voices had died down and the blonde teen thought maybe they had found him out, so he moved back.
He shook his head, I should be looking for a way down
he thought looking around the hallway again. The research area was rather big, but still somehow it reminded him of a hospital. He moved about casually and heard more voices down the hall, it was the rest of his pack.
What did you get? Yuki asked, her question bounced off the walls.
Not much, Ace said gathering with the rest of his team.
Ace, how about we try the air ducts? Shauni asked, breaking away from the topic. We could probably find something, like a master key somewhere.
And so it went underway, they decided to move somewhere in the floor where it was less condensed with guards. A couple of people that worked within the building moved within the area, some conversing on the other sides of the hallway and so the pack went and moved to another area.
They went around the building looking up at the ceiling to see if they could find an air duct of some sort. There was one near the mens restroom and at least it was better than not finding one. Ace breathed in for a moment feeling a warm sensation dance around his fingertips and moved them in a circular motion.
Dont absorb it, Shauni whispered quickly. We cant draw too much attention
Yuki looked around the area. Cameras
I got it
Shauni whispered and walked past the camera.
The Navigator brought her hands together and slowly pulled away, and a light aura of energy started to move about within her grasp. She looked up and tossed the aura towards the camera, it wouldnt engulf it for now but it would at least block out images. Shauni told the others that it would only last them for a while and that they needed to hurry up and work faster.
Ace pulled his hand back and pretended to grasp something. The lid from the duct fell down and Jacquelyn caught it. Yuki let out a small sigh of relief and looked back at the others giving them a heads up. They all started to make their way into the duct, and to their surprise it was big enough to let one by one through. Shauni moved a bit and stretched her hand out of the entrance feeling the lid in her grasp now. She closed it and that was the end of that.
Ugh it smells
Were next to the restrooms
Jacquelyn said hearing the pipes rattle bit from the use of water.
Shauni whispered sharply.
There were voices along the next duct that connected with another hallway wall. Two guards were talking amongst themselves about something. They continued to move again and tried to find a room that they could use. The group tried their best not to make so much noise as their knees and hands started to hit against the metal frame that encased them.
A computer room
Jacquelyn muttered as she looked down through the vents that were beneath her.
the lights are off
Lets try this room then, Yuki whispered.
Try not to make too much noise, Shauni added quickly.
The lid fell off and landed on the carpet, at least the noise wasnt as loud as if it were on a tile floor. The pack moved outside and looked at the room, it was rather large and cold. The air had to flow here in order to keep the machines from overheating, after all their internal fans could only do so much.
Ace was trying to remember if he saw anything within the elevator that could give him a clue as to what to look for. The teen did remembering seeing a keyhole, but at first glance it could have been only to rearrange the wires for the buttons. Maybe that key had a different function as well? It was worth a shot to look for a key after all.
Being placed inside a computer room was a sort of blessing though. They had inside knowledge as to what to expect and Shauni took control of that part. She pressed the power button and soon the machines started to hum. Her hands ran through the keyboards dancing along the black and white little letters. Yuki watched her work and noticed the words that came on the screen. Jacquelyn stood near the entrance way and noticed that part of this hallway was dark. The lights were turned off outside of this very room.
All eyes turned towards Shauni and Ace walked forward a bit:
Its asking for a password
Cant you find a way around it? Yuki asked.
I can try
she sighed for a moment.
Minutes passed and with the sound of frantic typing, there was a little buzzer that came from the speakers. She sighed and shook her head, there was no backdoor to this program. She decided to look around the files and noticed several opened documents on the desktop. One was labeled the first she ran the little white arrow over towards it and double clicked it.
This subject is rather hard to establish a deep connection with. It doesnt speak so much and it is rather special, in the sense that it is the first wolf we have found since the other one. Not much can be said for level of intelligence.
Its name, thats all it can say. It understands us though, but still that would mean it has not yet lost the will to change into a human.
Its starting to talk more, the sentences are a little short but at least we are making progresses. One soldier has taken a liking to the little wolf, but still we should exert caution when around it. Were going to take it out of its cage for a little while to see how it does outside. The warehouse might be fitting, its too soon to take it outside with the humans.
No more funding, well have to discontinue this soon. Been talking to another soldier and hes agreed to keep the wolf in the underground facility past the cells. Hopefully one day it will be able to be free.
Date: 1 month after
That wolf is still there
but I think it cant phase back for it stopped talking several days ago.
There was another file labeled Child and Shauni found herself clicking on it.
It was risky, toying with a human life like that even before it was born. I still cant help but think that I caused that premature event, and I have a feeling Im not wrong. I checked up on the little creature though as it was sent home. Its beautiful. And to be honest I do believe now that our city was found by the very people who did such things. That child is proof to such a fact.
Thats how the entry ended, there was nothing more.
Shauni tried once again to access the rest of the files but again it asked her for a password. She sighed and typed in anything that came into mind. her fingers moved along the keyboard as the name was typed for the password. There was a little flash on the screen and before long the sign access granted appeared.
Got it! Shauni said.
Try and print some of the info out, it might help us
Jacquelyn said checking to make sure the door was locked and moved closer towards the computer.
Ace was searching through the cabinets and found several keys there. He tilted his head and sighed for a moment taking the keys with him and placed them in his pocket. His hands skimmed through some of the papers and looked at one of the documents that seemed to be a little torn. He pulled it out and read the file, the name of the test subject was blacked out, but the picture only showed a small and deathly looking figure.
Test no. 1; Title: Child, birth of memory was what was written on the paper and the picture of the weird looking animal was stapled to it. Ace felt goosebumps run down him body and jerked a bit trying to keep himself calm. He decided he should keep this for some reason. That kid must have been in a lot of pain
he thought and sighed for a moment. He moved his had to the back of his head skimming across the earrings that the Moksha tribe had given him.
Weapon developments, training requirements
Shauni skimmed through the files that were still printing. This is their whole database here
she looked around the desk trying to find a memory stick.
We only came for the keys
Ace said placing the document at his side. We cant waste anymore time
The memory stick was placed once it had been found into the USB port and before long rest of the papers that had not been printed were forever destined to be inside a small piece of technology. She figured that all the computers were connected with the Oni group database. Jacquelyn and Yuki stood guard by the door, still no living soul had passed by that room. For now there were safe.
Whats that? Yuki asked referring to the document that was in Aces hand.
Ace said showing the front side of the document. Something that happened in Somnia
Is it the child? Shauni asked pulling the item from the USB port.
What happened? Jacquelyn asked looking back at Ace and Shauni.
An experiment, Shauni said sadly. But I really doubt that person survived.
Yuki said quickly not wanting to hear more. Lets get going, Selma and Ed need us.
The group started to move as Shauni turned off the computer and noticed that the lights in the hallway from outside were starting to shine. She hissed and jumped on to the desk, moving her body over the opening of the duct and moved her free hand quickly summoning the lid towards her.
With the other two
Why are you being so nice to him? she asked looking up at the ceiling. You hated that guys guts from the moment you saw him.
Well, maybe Im having a change of heart, he said rolling his eyes. Listen, I dont know why you trust him, but until then Ill play his little game.
I dont think he really wants to hurt us
she said softly.
Selma, listen to yourself, youre starting to like our captor! Edward whispered harshly. Are you stupid or something?!
Hes just trying to get us to put our guard down
he said looking away. Thats his job as a soldier.
The girl sighed for a moment and closed her eyes, she didnt really want to believe it. She had been taught that there was good in people no matter how bad they were. For where there was shadow there was light as well. Myron sighed for a moment and nuzzled his beak against his masters forearm.
understand who you are talking to, Myron said looking back at him.
Its okay Myron, you dont have to
she whispered softly. Hes right, Im being naïve about this. I have been for a long time.
There was a piercing sound that filled the air and Selma felt herself howl a bit in pain. Myron screeched and looked around. Edward gritted his teeth and growled shaking his head from side to side. There was an alarm sound some sort of intrusion and the voices of other people started to fill the air. Red lights on the sides of the cells started to flash. Selma stood up quickly and looked around, she could sense something. Myron was lost in a strange sort of trance.
you just had to sneeze
Im sorry! I didnt think I was going to
Heres the electrical room! Shauni yelled.
Lets shut this thing up! Ace yelled.
Ace you shut that stupid thing off, well take care of the guards! Yukis voice could be heard over multiple shouts and footsteps.
I told you theyd come
Selma whispered hearing the conversation relayed in her head.
The drugs were still taking a toll on their bodies and they wondered whether they would get far if the managed to escape the guards. Edwards will and pride wouldnt let him back down. Still he worried more for Selma considering her personality was different than his. He had to take care of her, and Myron as well, a crow couldnt really be of much help. The alarm died down and someone came running down the hallway the scent was familiar and Edward growled. The soldier looked frantically at the two of them and moved quickly.
Selma was the first to be taken, the cell door moved to the side, sliding open, and she felt something on her wrist, it was another handcuff. She looked back at the dark haired soldier and wrinkled her nose, he expressed an apology and discarded the other handcuff that held her hands away from her sides. Edward growled telling the soldier to keep his hands off of his friend. The soldier took no heed in his word and moved closer towards Edward.
Shut up, Ienzo said quickly yelling at the hotheaded wolf. Im trying to save your lives, now hurry the fuck up Edward. He said opening the barred cell door.
He looked back at Selma and Myron and she nodded slightly. Edward let himself go and staggered back up and moved forward. Ienzo placed a strong grip on his upper arm and pulled him forward, they didnt have much time to waste. He discarded the handcuffs that were formerly around Edwards wrist and then placed the other end of the long handcuff on the Nokian teens free wrist.
Ienzo said looking back at the other two and the little crow.
Edward placed his head down and grinned, Selma flinched for a moment and noticed the look in his eyes. Dont
she thought and looked back at Ienzo. Edward moved forward slowly pretending to move ahead like the soldier had instructed.
Think about it
Selma whispered as she and Edward walked side by side.
I have, he whispered back looking at her. And it needs to be done
But the drugs, she expressed with concern.
Dont worry, hell go easy on me, he said with a slight smile.
The alarms were muffled by the upper floor, it seemed that Ienzo had disarmed the one here on this floor. They moved quickly through the hallway running past several cells, and it was there that Edward decided to make his move. The Nokian teen moved quickly despite the drugs effect and tackled Ienzo head on. The soldier moved to the side, and Edward managed to bite into the forearm of the solider. Ienzo growled and before long Edward felt lightning course through his body. Selma jerked back and whimpered slightly feeling the pain as well, Myron had avoided the pain in the knick of time.
Youre hurting her, Edward, the soldier said softly as he gripped his forearm to stop the bleeding.
Edward moved quickly and brought his leg forward and Ienzo blocked it with his shoulder. He winced feeling the brute force and the soldier wondered whether the electricity had rendered the drug ineffective, still it would be useless considering they couldnt get out of the handcuffs without hurting the other. Selma was brought forward and she caught herself, she had to fight back now. Despite the small shock she moved quickly and managed to hit Ienzo as he staggered back. She was trying to aim for his Adams apple.
Edward breathed in feeling something boiling down in his stomach and exhaled sharply, a small puff of fire erupted him his mouth, the drug was starting to wear off. Ienzo dodged the oncoming puff and moved quickly, Selma moved to the side and tackled the solider, they both fell to the ground quickly and the girl heard a large crack on the tile floor. She pushed herself off quickly and looked at the solider, his head had collided with the ground.
? she said frantically.
Lets go, Edward said pulling her along.
Itll take more than a bump to the head to kill that traitor, the teen replied pulling her in the opposite direction. Theyll think were going outside. He said as she looked at him with a confused expression, the little crow followed behind them quickly.
They moved through rows of cells and towards another entrance that led to another place. Edward sighed for a moment and placed his hand on the knob, to his surprise the doorknob was not locked in place. He tilted his head and looked back at him companion, she sighed and looked at the hallway, she could still see Ienzos knocked out body. Edward placed his hand on her head and patted her on the head gently, trying to tell her that he was going to be all right. Myron perched himself on Selmas shoulder and noticed that Edward finally opened the door.
There was a caution sign on the side of the wall that was within the room and he sighed, he felt around the dark room and flipped the light switches and noticed something in the distance of the white colored room. Selma walked forward and felt something in her stomach drop. This was a testing room, she could see the procedure tables and the instruments that were on the small little metal tray. She felt herself shiver a bit and rubbed her arms for a moment. The Nokian teen decided to close the door behind them and lock it.
The length of the chain around the handcuffs was about ten feet, which seemed like a good thing for right now. Selma sighed for a moment running her hand across the monochrome medical table, it seemed to have been out of use for some time considering the dust that was on it. Edwards gold colored eyes looked down the room there was another door that had been sealed off.
he muttered softly looking back at her.
What? she snapped.
Hey look, relax, Edward said gently. This was beyond her level of comfort but he still had to try to get her to relax a bit, a dark wielder was more prone to act berserk when emotion was mixed into the equation. This door, he instructed her to look as he pointed to the closed area. You think you can open it?
She shrugged and Myron gently landed on the ground at his masters feet. She extended a hand over the doorknob and felt something cold circle around her hand. A pale mist began to form around the tips of her fingers but she drew back shaking her head. She couldnt do it, she didnt want to. Edward sighed for a moment and pulled her hand back over the doorknob.
I believe in you, he said. Dont be afraid.
You can do it Selma, Myron said landing back on his masters shoulder. I have faith in you.
The aura started again and she breathed in and out as the aura withdrew and expanded with each breath. The brass object was engulfed by the dark substance and then the screws that started to hold it all together started to fall apart. She could feel something heavy dance across her outstretched fingers and decided to pull back a bit and at that point the doorknob started to rattle. She pretended that she was turning the doorknob and something cracked from the door. The part that held the lock started to crack in its place and before long the knob was rattling.
She tried her best not to absorb it as she felt the darkness begging her to let it eat something. She controlled herself and let the broken piece of the doorknob fall to the ground. The two being with her gave her words of praise and she chuckled gently feeling herself blush a bit in embarrassment.
Now lets see whats behind this door
he said gently and pulled the door open.
Facing them was a strange room it looked like it was held for interrogations of some sort. The room was still lit and Selma flinched for a moment feeling the blood rush from her face, her jaw opened a bit and she uttered a small noise. There was a dark furred wolf in the room, he seemed to be asleep.
Is it alive? Edward asked himself and moved closer towards the glass that separated them physically. He looked around and noticed there was a small little button on the side of the glass, it reminded him of one of those old cop movies. He pressed it and took in a deep breath. Hello? he called out.
There was no answer.
Are you awake?
Again no answer.
Selma moved closer and tugged at Edwards shirt:
Ill give it a shot
Her breathing was a bit shaky but still she wanted to try. All three of them could tell the wolf was in fact alive for it was still breathing.
she said in a slightly pleasant voice. The wolf moved slightly to the side. Its time to wake up
Edward noticed that there was food in a bowl and water in another one, they were basically treating the wolf like a dog.
I want to sleep more
the wolf muttered. Please no more noise.
Were going to take you outside
Edward said over the intercom.
For a second time? the wolf asked perking his ears for a moment.
It was a rather large looking wolf with a thick red line that ran down his back, and piercing blue eyes stared back at the glass. His fur was as dark as the night sky itself. The two wolves in disguise sighed in relief and chuckled for a moment towards one another.
What is so funny? the wolf asked stepping closer towards the glass, he couldnt see them face to face.
Both of the teens outside the glass noticed the white cross on his left cheek, and they wanted to know what had caused the wolf to do something like that.
Edward said quickly. Were going to open the door now, so
I understand, the wolf responded.
Edward and the other two people with him moved closer towards the doorway and for some reason it wasnt locked. Is it part of the training exercise? he asked himself and opened the door slightly. The wolf ran up to the door and sniffed the different scents that were behind the object that separated them. At that point the wolf growled lowly.
Selma said quickly. We wont hurt you.
Where is Roanoke? the wolf asked.
Hes not here, Edward said and looked back at Selma. The two of them shrugged and pulled away from the door.
Do you two work here? the wolf asked.
Is that why they were making all that noise? the wolf asked.
No, Edward said softly. Were like you.
Both teens decided to take on their original wolf forms, it had been a while since they were able to phase and they were glad. Edward stretched for a moment and yawned, as Selma stretched feeling her neck crack a bit, her two tails moved about. The part that wrapped around them didnt hurt as much as they thought it would. Myron made his way towards the table that was outside of the glass and looked at the two wolves hoping they somehow would back out of it.
The new wolf flinched for a moment and stayed motionless noticing the wolves come into the room. He growled showing his fangs but noticed that the wolves bore no malicious intent. His tail was lowered for a moment as the dark wolf with shining fur moved closer pulling the other strange looking wolf with him. The navy furred wolf seemed so strange to him he had never seen one before.
See were wolves, just like you, the dark furred wolf said.
And we dont mean to hurt you, the navy wolf said.
The new wolf moved back at bit and felt a little out of place now. The navy wolf spoke again and she seemed to be speaking in a gentle tone while the other wolf said nothing for a while. The new wolf relaxed a bit and sat down as the navy wolf paused for a moment.
My name is Selma
she said bowing her head slightly.
And mine is Edward, the dark colored wolf said bowing his head. Whats your name?
the wolf said. They call me Jack.
Come on then Jake, were going outside
My name is Jack
he said quickly.
the female said quickly. I just have something on my mind.
Come on, lets get going then, Edward said softly looking back at Selma.
Jack moved slowly behind the two wolves and noticed the thick chain around their front paws. He tilted his head for a moment watching them walk out the door and he sighed. He looked back at the large beige colored room that was around him and thought back to a person he regarded as a kind person, but that man probably no longer existed. The dark colored wolf moved about the floor and managed to walk outside the room as he heard chatter in the distance.
His eyes stood fixed on the strange looking bird that was atop the navy wolfs head. He drew his ears back and snarled, but he was sharply cut off by Edwards own snarl. Jack sat back and looked down, he wasnt allowed to hurt the bird.
This is Myron, my friend, Selma said walking past Edward. Hes a crow.
I know what that is, Jack whispered softly. Those things ridiculed me
Well I know Myron wont do that, she said try to get him to look up. We have to go outside now, we cant waste time here.
The crow tilted his head watching Jack for a moment and Edward let out a small sigh, it surprised him that this wolf would go so willingly. Still they all had to be careful when going outside.
human? Jack asked quickly noticing that there was no longer a navy furred wolf before him.
Yep, she said nodding. She looked back at her companion and noticed that he decided to stay in his other form, he had been itching to move about on all fours. But dont go judging a book by their cover, she said looking back at the wolf with the cross on his cheek.
With the others
Yuki flinched for a moment feeling something whiz past her and moved back behind some pieces of discarded cases. They were shooting now and Yuki looked back at Jacquelyn. She was moving her hands about and gusts of air were pushing back at the bullets with ease. Shauni ran forward on the tips of her feet and quickly ducked underneath a gust of wind that the Protector used. The soldiers in the distance started to advance and Yuki took her chance to move forward as well in her wolf form.
Jacquelyn moved her arms and hands in a large circle and ran forward sending a massive gust of air straight ahead for the soldiers. This was starting to seem like second nature for her. It was at that point Shauni took the chance and started firing at the water pipes that seemed to loom over them. In the distance Yuki was within striking range and drove her fangs into one of the arms of the soldiers. He jerked back and flung his arm using the gun to try and let the wolf lose their grip. She endured the pain and hung on as another soldier started to move towards the neutral colored wolf.
A thick stream of water collided with the other soldier before more damage could be done and Yuki unhinged her jaw from the mans arm. He dropped his weapon the rest of the soldiers started to close in on her. There was another gust of wind and Jacquelyn dropped down in front of the neutral grey wolf, smiling for a moment. Shauni moved quickly and brought her hand to the side, the condensed water moved with her and as she moved her arm forward particles of ice moved on their own hitting the soldiers with ease.
Can we get some mist? Yuki asked looking back at Shauni.
Hey just like in the movies, Jacquelyn said noticing that the soldiers had stopped moving.
Before long Shauni breathed in and moved her arms forward and pretended to part something, like a large solid door. The water around them started to move up into the air and started to break apart into small droplets of liquid. Before long, with several controlled puffs of breath the mist started to form. Jacquelyn and Yuki looked around and watched the mist engulf them.
Come on, lets get going
Ace is probably waiting for us, Shauni said letting a small particle of light hover by her side. She looked back down at her side and let out a small breath of relief to find her firearm back in place.
In the distance there were gun shots and the blonde haired teen tried his best to avoid getting hit with the projectiles. He moved his hands frantically in front of him as the light started to manifest itself into a shield. The bullets bounced off the element and hit the nearby walls that surrounded him. He gritted his teeth feeling more bullets hit the shield and before long he noticed a crack on the barrier that kept him safe from physical harm. No, not now this has to stay up longer
he thought concentrating more energy into the shield.
He growled and moved forward feeling a heavy pressure hit his arms, the shield was starting to grow heavier by the minute now. Ace still moved forward and braced himself as more bullets started to come his way. Pravus sat back this time watching Ace handle the situation, he would fight back that much he knew but whether he would kill someone was something he wanted to see. The shield started to break off slowly and Ace stopped moving closer toward the enemy line.
He pulled out his dagger and ran forward breaking through the shield. Shards of light danced around as gravity started to move them closer to the plain colored floor. Particles of the shield clung to Aces clothing as he ran forward and started to peel away as he moved with speed, decorating the floor with white orbs and before long they started to turn into mist, rising into the air. Bullets started to fire again and Ace spun around to the side something jerked him back and noticed a bullet had managed to make him bleed.
Ace still moved forward and managed to bring his hand forward, another shield was created but this time it absorbed the bullets and the shield, using a will of its own, launched the projectiles back at the soldiers. Several of the soldiers fell back feeling something pierce either their arms or legs. Not one of the bullets pierced through the vital portions of the body.
Ha, ha! Youre still bent on not killing people
Pravus said taking control of Aces mouth. Thats really noble I guess, still
Our mission is to take Selma and Ed back, nothing else
Ace said discarding the shield, the firing had stopped.
But what about the document? You have a reason for bring that along? Pravus asked referring to the paper that was in his back pocket. If you think youre going to the kid then forget it.
No its just that
he sighed and shook his head. Forget it Pravus you wouldnt understand, he said coldly and walked on ahead.
Ace! a voice was in back of him. The blonde haired teen looked back and placed his dagger back inside the sheath that was around his side. The group from his pack started to advance forward. Did you get the last of them? Yuki asked.
Yeah, I just injured them though, he said quickly before Pravus could place any input into the situation.
The group moved quickly through the small group of wounded soldiers and made their way downstairs, they were close to the cells.
With the others
Ienzo just left
Selma whispered looking back at the other two wolves. They were on the first floor of the underground portion of the building. Jack had been guiding them through secret entrances that he remembered when he was allowed to roam the halls with some freedom.
That idiot might have as many lives as a cat, Edward said growling for a moment. Im gonna kill him.
Killing wont solve anything, Selma said looking back at him.
Hes a traitor, Edward said harshly.
Yeah well, is his death going to solve anything? she asked.
Jack watched as they spoke and he looked back and forth at the handcuffed wolf and human. Both of the individuals had a good point but still if killing was necessary he would probably go for that choice. He noticed the girl was looking at him with a small smile and patted him gently on the head. Jack drew his lips back and curled it into a slight snarl, but the girl didnt flatter.
I know you wouldnt hurt me, she said. You have no reason too anyway.
something was running through Jacks mind. She smells like them
he thought for a moment and lost himself in his thoughts. He remembered meeting a noble once and an alchemist some time ago back when he was still a pup and they were talking about something. But shes kind, her voice says is all
he thought closing his eyes for a moment. He cleared his throat and pulled away. Im not a dog.
Sorry, old habits are hard to break, she said drawing back her head. Edward was sitting next to her looking at the opposite side of the hallway.
Were close to freedom
he said softly. And that bastard might be there.
Stop being paranoid Edward, youre making me paranoid! Selma yelled back at the wolf that sat next to her. Myron jumped for a bit and looked back at his master.
